Did you know that the strongest predictor for recidivism is poverty?
Or that the unemployment rate for formerly incarcerated individuals is 27%.
Within 3 years of their release, 2 out of 3 people are rearrested and more than 50 percent are incarcerated again.
The Empowerment Network's mission is to reduce recidivism rates by providing comprehensive support and resources to individuals who have been affected by the criminal justice system. We strive to empower our program participants with the skills, knowledge and tools they need to successfully reintegrate into society and lead productive lives. Through our evidence based programs we provide mentorship, family advocacy, GED preparation classes, and career readiness programs to the formerly incarcerated. We work hard to provide those we serve, the opportunity to transform their life, unlock hidden potential and build a brighter future for themselves.
Here are some programs we want to fund this year:
-
To optimize the impact of our mentorship program, we seek to establish a complete curriculum that
guides individuals toward positive growth and personal development. With your support it will help us provide critical workbooks and educational materials for participants learning and skill development. -
We need computer monitors to teach participants digital skills to improve our job readiness programs. Your donation will help us organize powerful workshops to teach people how to write great resumes and succeed in the job market.
-
We accept professional attire donations to give our members confidence
and wardrobe for job interviews and employment success. -
This year, we want to host a unique event for children of inmates as part of our family advocacy program. Your
gift will help us give these kids a memorable and inspiring experience as they navigate a challenging time in their lives.
